Ready to Go Home

I have effectively been on my own since 2018, but I have always consoled myself that I have family, friends, and most especially the Holy Spirit. There have been times when I felt that even the latter was not enough, and I indulged in despair and thoughts of self-harm. I have now completed my cross-country trek and gratefully enjoyed the opportunity to visit my daughters and former wife. The visit went better than I could have hoped, though it once more brought to light my failures and foibles that too often hinder my relationships. With this portion of my trip concluding, I find myself choked-up, reflecting on what I had, what I lost, and the enduring loneliness my choices have forged. Confronted by the pain of saying goodbye to those I love, I cling to the Holy Spirit that animates me. I am ready to go home.

Genesis 2:18 “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
